About Alastor

We work closely with our clients, usually in small, focused, high performance teams. We have developed and applied a range of tools and techniques to underpin our highly practical and pragmatic approach to delivering “fit for purpose” solutions and recommendations.

By “fit for purpose” we mean that we will work with the client to generate the solution, without spending excessive time on analysis; we have no pyramid of juniors that need to generate fees. Once the requirement and answer have become clear, we work with the client towards implementation.

Clients have to live with our solutions and recommendations, delivering the long term benefits. It is therefore important that the client, employees and (where relevant) customers and suppliers “own” the solution. For example: 

  • When reviewing and redesigning business processes, we carry out sufficient analysis on current processes to identify problems, but no more. We move on to working with the client to design the new processes that will deliver the benefits (rather than focusing on endless analysis of the current state)
  • When working on procurements, we work with the client to focus on the strategic, operational, geographic, cultural and regulatory environments that differentiate the client requirements. We concentrate on those aspects that differentiate the solution and enable the client to continue to differentiate its position in the market, rather than specifying reams of “bog standard” requirements

Process Redesign in Corporate Recovery
Advised a “big four” accountancy firm on the redesign of processes in the Corporate Recovery function. The new process splits “front” and “back” office functions, centralising all “back office” processes previously carried out in national, regional and local offices. The Shared Service Centre supports significant improvements in the Corporate Recovery function, at reduced costs, utilising integrated workflow and accountancy software to ensure seamless integration of the national practice.
